The Things They Carried
This was the first book that touched me on a fundamental level. I still carry that feeling until this day. Whenever I read these stories again, I reach a new level of understanding with each individual story. There's really nothing else I can say about this book, except maybe... everyone should read it. If you haven't read it, you're missing out on something grand. O'Brien is an amazing writer and his prose is gorgeous.
